This was our first full day in Lake Tahoe at the Heavenly California Ski Lodge. We all got up early. Aaron and Audrie had to be up early to make it to ski school. I was excited to be able to take some adorable pictures of my five year old in her ski gear get-up, but the school was a parent-free-zone! They told me I could go over to the Enchanted Forest where the kids were skiing, but I didn't want to break her concentration, nor did I want to try to push a stroller through slushy snow. As it was, she was having a blast. I was able to get some pictures of Aaron learning. At first he was nervous, but he took to skiing like a pro. Having grown up playing ice hockey apparently gave him the edge he needed. Baby girl napped nearly entire time I was up at the ski lodge. I think the long flight the day before wore her plumb out!
My in-laws went down the first run, gratifying my wish to take a picture of something!
Back to Aaron in ski school, making his turns beautifully.
Going up the magic carpet ride doing the Miss America wave.
Aaron with his instructor Stacy. He is now ready to rock and roll!
Going down the first run! And the rest as they say is history! The next day he had moved from first run, to green, to blue! (And enjoying every minute of it!)
Ready to ski with the big dogs!
My little Mommy heart was overjoyed to see my girl coming in on the ski mobile from the Enchanted Forest. "Hi, Mom!"
Chilling after her first day of ski school.
Day 2
Aaron went off skiing the blue runs with Lori. Phil was taking a ski class. Audrie was back in ski school. Baby girl and I were hanging out in the ski lodge again. She didn't sleep as much this day. She was getting pretty agitated with me. I finally figured out. She didn't want to be held. She wanted to sit in her own chair and do her own thing. Just as we all were sitting down for lunch, we were able to see Miss Audrie come in from ski school. She was so cute! (In the green vest.)
From my view point in the lodge, I was able to watch them began work on this slope. They were preparing for the US Freestyle Championships that's actually going on as I write this.
Aaron found out that skiing is quite a work out after a 45-minute final run.
Baby girl was happy to see Daddy even if she wasn't happy to have to wear eye wear.
Audrie after her second day of ski school with one of her favorite instructors, Coach Pepper!
Day 3
Everyone took a day off from skiing today. So our little family of four took off on an adventure. We took a ride up the Gondola so I could see the view that Aaron had been seeing the last few days skiing. It truly was a spectacular view! At the top, we at at Tamarack Lodge and played in the snow.
Then we took a scenic drive to Emerald Bay, arguably the most beautiful part of the lake.
Day 4
Back to skiing! This was Jason and Yury's first full day joining us. After Yury's ski class, they all obliged me by going down the first fun so I could get a picture of all of them.
My little buddy. Cutest patron of the lodge. :)
Day 5
There was a bear sighted close to the Enchanted Forest so they brought the kids over to hill Aaron learned to ski on. I was so excited to be able to watch Audrie ski! I loved watching her. I'm so proud of her determination!
Day 6
Audrie took a half day of ski school and then got to ski with her dad the rest of the day. She loved being able to finally ski with him! Her favorite thing to do is go straight downhill and fast much to the frustration of her dad. :)
Day 7
We said, "Goodbye," to the beautiful lake and made our way back to STL. Let's not talk about our flight back, lest we ruin a lighthearted post!
